Responsibilities:

• Acquire and maintain appropriate and up-to-date environmental permits.
• Lead the environmental team and coordinate activities.
• Monitor and implement new legislation and regulations in relation to the environment and coordinate/advise with regard to the implementation of this legislation/these regulations within SABIC to secure compliance.
• Maintain an effective network of relevant internal (particularly Asset Operation Leaders) and external stakeholders (particularly authorities) such as on the basis of trust and adequate knowledge.
• Initiate, develop and lead environmental projects to improve environmental performance.
• Contribute towards developing and maintaining expertise in the field of various environmental issues.
• Advice and challenge management with respect to the implementation and compliance of requirements and continuous improvement.

• Higher Vocational Education-level in Environmental Sciences.
• Good experience (>5 years) within chemical industry in the field of operations/manufacturing.
• Applicable competencies for analyzing complex environmental issues and the ability to manage and convince multi disciplinary teams on EHSS and permitting issues.
• Excellent knowledge of policy, government legislation and regulations in relation to the environment.
• Knowledge of project-based working.
• Negotiation skills.
• Good communication skills and being able to build effective and sustainable relationships within the organization as well as with stakeholders outside the organization.
